Swanage Railway operate diesel and steam train services between Norden – Corfe – Swanage, check the timetable and ticket prices directly. Norden train station is located within Purbeck Park.

2024 update: Unfortunately due to funding constraints, the mainline train link up between South West Railway and Swanage Railway isn’t operating this year for the forseeable. Swanage Railway trains run Norden – Swanage with the nearest mainline train station being Wareham.

South Western Railway operate services on this line between Weymouth and London including Bournemouth and Southampton. The nearest station to the Purbeck Heaths on this line is Wareham.

For Brownsea Island, get off at Poole and make your way to Poole Quay (approx. 0.6 miles)

This forms part of the National Cycle Network Route 2. The route between Bournemouth – Shell Bay – Burnbake – Purbeck Park – Arne is fairly flat and takes you through woodland and heathland on a mix of off-road and on-road. Cycle hire available at Cyclexperience, Purbeck Park.

Please note, it can get very wet around Sharford Bridge after heavy rain where it crosses the Corfe River.

Morebus operate the seasonal (and recently renamed) Jurassic Breezer 30 service from 27th May 2024 – September between Swanage and Dorchester

Morebus operate the year-round Purbeck Breezer 40 service between Swanage – Poole, running hourly Monday – Saturday between approx. 7am-10pm, reduced Sunday service

Morebus operate the year-round Purbeck Breezer 50 service between Swanage – Bournemouth, running hourly everyday between approx. 8am-8pm, running later in the summer months.
